We are thrilled to announce the release of a study Towards zero long-term unemployment in the EU: Job guarantees and other innovative approaches, prepared as part of the activities of the ESF+ Community of Practice on Employment, Education, and Skills.

The release of this report marks the beginning of a new journey: in 2024, the ESF+ Social Innovation+ Initiative will focus on innovative territorial measures addressing long-term unemployment in Europe. With a budget of EUR 23 million, the European Commission aims to support the testing, transfer, and scaling up of innovative solutions to tackle this challenge.

The knowledge sharing between member states started with a mapping of different approaches of “zero long-term unemployment” and job guarantees. The report includes case studies from five EU countries that are pioneering the fight against long-term unemployment: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany and the Netherlands. It will be followed by a structured mutual learning processes including a webinar and study visit, as well as a transnational call for proposals.

We invite you to join us on this journey! Discover lessons learned and challenges, and explore insights for transfer and upscaling. We hope that this activity will not only enrich your understanding of the challenges of long-term unemployment, but also inspire you to confidently develop new solutions!
