The recent ALMA network event, which took place on 26-27 June in Prague (Czechia), provided participants with a wealth of knowledge and firsthand experience on the impactful activities and success stories within the Czech ALMA projects. Organized with considerable support from the Czech Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, and their representative Tomke Trávníčková, the two-day event was an enriching experience for all attendees.

The first day featured three internal sessions focusing on key issues for ALMA network members. The first session updated ongoing activities and follow-ups from network partners and discussed future structuring of the ALMA Partner Search Database.

The second session involved discussions and practical activities on SCO and other ALMA funding schemes, presented by partners from Polish regions. Participants shared their experiences and strategies for managing project finances in their respective Member States and regions. Key issues raised will be included in future meeting agendas for further discussion.

The third internal session began with Simona Smrčková from the Czech Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs presenting “The evaluation outcomes of previous Czech youth mobility programmes” showcasing results through various indicators. Bettina Reuter, thematic expert for the ALMA network, then presented the work package on “Measuring soft outcomes/soft indicators,” which will be discussed in future meetings.

Another important session allowed six participants from the target groups of Czech ALMA projects to share their unique experiences and journeys. Their personal stories highlighted the transformative impact of the projects on their lives, providing a powerful testament to the effectiveness of the ALMA initiative. Panel discussion was particularly moving, as it brought to light the real-world benefits and challenges faced by those directly involved in the projects.

The second day offered a hands-on experience through a study visit to the JURTA organisation. This visit was a highlight of the event, as participants had the chance to witness the practical implementation of project with the most vulnerable youth in action. JURTA’s innovative programs and the tangible results they achieve provided participants with a clear understanding of how theoretical concepts discussed on the first day translate into real-world impacts. During the visit, attendees met with project participant and staff, gaining insights into the day-to-day operations and the practical challenges and successes of running such initiatives. This experience was invaluable, as it allowed participants to see firsthand the dedication and hard work involved in making ALMA projects a success.

The ALMA network event was a resounding success, thanks to the meticulous organisation and support from our partners. Participants left with not only a deeper understanding of ALMA initiative and project implementation but also with practical experiences and new connections that will undoubtedly enhance their future work.
