
On 22nd of September 2017 the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Azerbaijan announced that Lithuania and Latvia, as junior partners, together with France, surpassed the proposal of Finnish and Estonian consortium, were awarded the contract to implement EU Twinning project “Support to strengthening the higher education system in Azerbaijan”.
One of the bests Lithuanian experts in the area of higher education together with the partners will have an exceptional opportunity to share the best Lithuanian experience increasing the institutional capacities of the Ministry of Education, higher education institutions in Azerbaijan and the Accreditation and Nostrification Office for the continued introduction of the principles, mechanisms, tools and policies of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and to ensure their consistent implementation and application supporting the shift towards a student-centred system and learning outcomes approach. The overall objective of the project is to further develop Azerbaijan’s higher education system through aligning it with a competence-based education approach.
In this tripartite consortium, Lithuania will be represented by the Ministry of Education and Science, Research and Higher Education Monitoring and Analysis Centre, European Social Fund Agency and Latvia – by the Academic Information Centre. Whereas International Center for Pedagogical Studies in France as a leading partner will be in charge of project implementation and administration. The project will last for 24 months and the European Commission will allocate 1.2 million euro to implement it.
